Why we’re the Best Club Down Under
There are many reasons why Kilmacud Crokes are worthy of such a glorious prize. We believe our ability to introduce new kids to Gaelic Games, improve their skills and instill a passion for Hurling and Gaelic Football in them to be the main attributes of such a communal club.
The sense of community stems right from our senior teams to the nursery kids on a Saturday morning. You will see members of said senior teams training and mentoring various underage teams throughout the year. We, at Kilmacud Crokes, have fully bought into the mantra that 'The Kids Are Our Future' and we have enjoyed various successes due to the hard and diligent work of our managers, coaches, mentors and most importantly parents.
In recent years, we have been unfortunate to lose in championship matches by narrow margins, but our senior football team has brought us the greatest honour by winning the All-Ireland Club Championship in 2009. We, as a hurling team, have strived for many years to emulate our footballing counterparts and we believe that it is possible as we gear up to take a march on this year’s Dublin Senior Hurling Championship.
So many people are worthy of thanks and praise for what they have done for our club. It should be these people, the humbled souls who line the pitches, fill the bottles, and make sure Seán and Gráinne are holding their hurleys correctly, that win this amazing trip. Alas, it is the senior panelists that would love the opportunity to be trained by Nicky English, be it in the bog or in the outback! We would relish that chance and love to play against the Australian selection. That, I’m sure would a “G’day mate”!
P.s. We would appreciate the summer part of "summer hurling"!
